First Meeting with Wiki :)

                                                                    JEAN VALJEAN

        Editing a Wiki page is something that gives students  freedom and a sense of authority to some degree and it has important implications for language teaching. Applying such a prjoect to the classroom is so wise because students think that their preferences are important and they have the right to decide on their own without being directed: they choose their favourite characters and write freely. Having the right to edit the page completely on your own ( word choice, character choice, adding any pictures and other realias etc.) gives them feeling that they are the ones who will take decisions and they are seen as individuals ; individuals who have their own taste and who can make up their minds in course works. Leading the students to edit a Wiki page is also motivating for them because they feel that they have followers of their pages : the teacher and their peers. Carrying the pressure of this in a reasonable extent, the students take more pains on the project which is one of the bringings of this project to the classroom.

         Similarly, we created a page for which only we’ll be hold responsible. Choosing a character was a bit time- consuming actually. But when I consider how time-saving the project itself is , it is nothing of value. We were due to give a detailed description of the character and brief information about the novel and to add related visual data such as videos, pictures etc. by providing reference.

        In my teaching years, I really want to use such a project in my class.I think, in the global world surrounded by advanced technology , we, futures' teachers,  will already have to use such technologies in our own classrooms. Therefore, knowing these educational technologies such as blogging, podcast , wiki gains more and more importance day by day.Creating their own Wiki page, my students become more creative and active in the classroom and in the learning process. It gives students an ethusiasm to participate in  and they also get the chance to evaluate themselves before the teacher seeing their friends’ pages.

         I chose the Jean Valjean character in the novel: Les Miserables by Victor Hugo.To learn more, please visit my page ;

Two Amateurs' Story :)

Voice Recorder >> My podcast project with my friend Mehribe :) Have fun with it :)

Podcast Experience

                                               CURIOSITY KILLS

           When I heard the tasks firstly, I thought that it would be fun and enjoy it. But the real is that production is really tough work.

         Me and my pair Mehribe chose to work on the story task and I took writing the story on me. Absolutely, this task made me think about writing a story and also forced me to be creative. Because the introductory sentence is a kind of terrifying, the plot of the story also moved in that way.
          We used the Audiocity program for recording it and make some amendments on it after. We call our story as “Curiosity Kills” and we used four words from the list: these are "wind,kill,letter and phone". We had serious problems seriously:) But the most irritating of them was not technical at all. It was our endless laughters during recording it. In the middle of the recording, we started to laugh suddenly. I really don’t remember how many times we recorded it. When we heard our voices after recording, we felt like strangers but the strangers who have really bad voices:) When you listen it, you’ll understand us more.
          This was my first Podcast experience. When the project was completed , we both were sure that Podcast is a beneficial technologic tool for a language teacher. Because it is easy to use and much more  interesting for students than reading  story text from a book. Using Podcast for story -telling leaves less chance for students to get bored  .It visualizes the story in the mind of the learners.
           Actually I would use such a record in my class in the future. Because the sound effects we use as supporters for the comprehension of the story make the story more clear and our English level was pre-intermediate which can be understandable for average students. Lastly, we had a fluent and bare English ( I hope:) Additionally, It can be interesting for students because it ends in an unexpected way.

            Have a nice day:)

My Word:

Hello everybody;

     My choice has been "helpful". Let's have a quick glance at its origin.

     It is the derivation of the verb "help" and help corresponded to "helpan" in old English and came to be formed as help.

     It is defined as "to make it possible or easier for someone to do something, by doing part of the work yourself or by providing advice, money, support, etc."( Cambridge Advance Learner's Dictionary)

      We , as people defining themselves as "helpful", should ask ourselves "What kind of assistance am I providing?" and I would answer it as everything that I could.

      Because I feel that I have a deep stimulation  in me to help people when they are in need especially in course issues as you can easily guess:) This is my general disposition when I heard an SOS.My friends defines me as helpful and also I came to agree with them that Yes, I am a helpful person.

       Have a nice day :)
